Frequently Asked Questions

About our coffee

  • We grow two (2) types of coffee in Uganda i.e. Arabica and Robusta. Arabica thrives in highland areas of between 1300m - 2600m while Robusta thrives in lowland areas between 800m - 1400m. Our Arabica coffee comes from Bulambuli district on the slopes of Mt. Elgon and our Robusta comes from Mityana district along the shores of L. Victoria in Uganda.

  • We do not have decaf coffee yet but hopefully in the near future, we will be able to process it.

  • All our coffee is natural, it comes straight from the farmers in our network which also means the flavour profiles vary but you will not miss the jasmine flavour. We do not add any additives or artificial flavouring.

  • Coffee does not expire when kept in airtight conditions but the best flavor can be tasted within 6 months.

  • Aramah is a product of Mara Agribusiness. Mara Agribusiness enrolls youth coffee farmers, trains them Best Agronomic Practices (BAPs) practically. MARA then buys back coffee from the youth at a fair price & processes it into ARAMAH Coffee.

  • majority of Uganda’s coffee farmers are aging out, with an average age of 62 years. On the other hand, Uganda has the second youngest population in the world, with 55% of the population below 18 years and 70% below 30 years. On the contrary, there’s high rural-urban migration in search for quick-money making jobs, yet agriculture employs about 80% of the population, with coffee as the leading export earner. This compelled us to establish MARA Agribusiness
